Who are you if you’re not trying to please anyone? How often have you felt like your life doesn’t belong to you? Are important decisions, like your career or hobbies, shaped by others' expectations rather than your desires?
One of the purposes of Build, Launch, Repeat is to Build a better you. And that’s what we’re going to explore today. Who are you? To embark on this journey of self-discovery, you’re going to need courage, and you’re going to need to break free from labels and expectations. Let me tell you something: Doing what truly makes you happy, even if it defies social norms, will bring uncertainty, but it’s essential to live authentically.
I believe most people go through life without ever questioning who they are. And I don’t want that for you. A few days ago, I started reading the book I Am That, a collection of dialogues by Indian spiritual teacher and philosopher Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, where he explores the nature of consciousness, the self, and ultimate reality.
And let me tell you something: Letting go of labels doesn’t mean giving up everything; it means redefining your life on your terms. A life where you’re not defined by a job or a title but by a phrase or a poem. Listen closely: Your life shouldn’t be a professional title; it should be a damn poem.
So, what do you dedicate your time to? Who are you? To answer this question—if you haven’t already—I hope you experience a personal or existential crisis. But… David, what a strange wish, right?
Yes, embrace those moments of crisis to evaluate which aspects of your life need a change. Allow yourself to feel and process difficult emotions without judgment and recognize that your identity is constantly evolving—embrace that change. Dare to make changes, even small ones, to align your life with your values. And most importantly: Remember, you’re not obligated to fit anyone else’s expectations.
I hope you discover your true potential and take this journey to its ultimate consequences.
